The Early Years

EIT was incorporated in 1974 when the shareholders perceived a need in the marketplace for a company to provide engineering, installation and maintenance services to the Canadian telephone companies as a competitive alternative to the major manufacturers who were, at that time, the only companies providing such services. As the company grew, it was able to broaden its scope of operations by offering refurbished equipment to the market, supported by turnkey service packages.
In addition, the company provided a secondary manufacturing function by obtaining its supply of equipment by buying-out exchanges from the telephone companies that had reached capacity and were being replaced with new technology and then re-building that equipment for re-sale as additions to other existing exchanges.

Development and Growth

EIT's management recognized at an early stage that the future of telecommunications belonged to digital technology. In order to develop the personnel with the required technical skills for digital equipment, the company created a plan to take the company through this development stage. The plan was implemented in 1980, following the deregulation of the Interconnect market, which allowed companies other than the telephone companies to provide telephone systems to business users. It was envisaged that this plan would take approximately five years to enable the company to develop the expertise in digital technology. Once the plan had been successfully completed, the company sold its Interconnect division in 1986 and reverted to dealing with the telephone companies for their needs in the area of Digital Central Office systems and related products.

In recent years (2000 - 2010) the company again repositioned itself to meet current market demand. This also included downsizing to cope with economic conditions and market downturn. It also included training, hiring of new talent, improving product selection and establishing new relationships with global manufacturers. These actions transitioned the company to now offer next generation products and services in both wireline and wireless networks including IP, softswitch, optical, broadband, and cellular.

Current Position

Today EIT is recognized in the telecommunications industry as a leader in providing high quality products, services, project management and maintenance support. EIT’s core business is providing telecommunications services supported by distributed products and network solutions. Distribution agreements and strategic alliances with global manufacturers and other next generation technology providers such as Alcatel-Lucent, Acme Packet, Genband, Huawei, Lemko, Eltek-Valere, Taqua, TelcoBridges, Emerson Power, NYCE Networks, Alpha Technologies and other suppliers provide EIT with a continuous source of new technology products and access to network technology training. This core business strategy of leading with services supported by distributed products ties the company’s success to market conditions rather than being dependent on the success of any particular product or technology.

Summary

Capitalizing on on market trends and globalization the company is positioned to offer next generation products and services to meet market demand.

In looking to the future the company recently introduced a new strategy that adds Canadian Content to Global Products by distribution and the provision of In Country Technical Support Services providing a value added service to its customers and suppliers.

EIT is a company with excellent growth potential. For further information contact:
